I did a little internet research today to check out some Hundred tutorials. There are many. I found that most of them explain how to do the Hundred properly and then show someone, who has all the components listed above, doing the Hundred perfectly. But what about the majority of people who haven’t mastered the breath control, strength etc needed to do the Hundred well enough to actually enjoy it? Should everyone else just be happy to get through the Hundred? Of course not.
The two most important components of the Hundred are the breath control and form in the torso…strong scoop, nice C curve, no straining in the neck. Everything else (pumping arms, reaching legs) in my opinion is bonus.
We are promoting a studio wide initiative to master the Hundred. We are all going to take it back a few notches and really work on mastering the breath control and form in the torso. We will be showing you lots of variations for legs and arms so that you can master the Hundred and get out of it what is intended. We hope that you will come to really like doing the Hundred.
