Tyler: I drove by it on my way to work and stopped in one day out of curiosity in September 2015. I signed up and have been coming ever since.
Jim: My wife told me about a Men's Study that MP was doing and I applied in December 2015. They accepted me and I participated in the 10 week study.
What areas of success or improvement have you experienced since starting Pilates?
Tyler: My lower back doesn't hurt like it used to prior to doing Pilates. My core is much stronger and my balance is better. Even while driving and especially working at my computer, I try to be very conscious of my posture.
Jim: I have never been very flexible. Pilates helps with that. I had shoulder surgery last Spring and it's helped improve my mobility.
Can you share a specific way one of our teachers has helped you or something she has taught you?
Tyler: I've been fortunate to take classes from all of the instructors. All of the them are so supportive and focused on the participants having a positive experience with Pilates. They constantly watch your form to ensure you're doing the exercises correctly. You receive individualized instruction during class and tips for workouts between classes.
Jim: I worked with Deb during the study. Until I worked with her, I didn't realize how severely immobile I actually was. We spent a lot of time stretching my muscles so I have a better range of motion.
Now that we're in the second half of our lives, feeling strong and being flexible is more important than ever. We feel everyone would benefit from Pilates.
Note from the studio: Jim and Tyler are such a great couple. They bring laughter and appreciation to the studio. We love getting to know them and we are so pleased that our teaching of Pilates is impacting their lives in such a great way.
