Where are you from? Windham CT
Favorite food? Anything my kids want to help me make. Some of my favorite memories are cooking with my kids.
Favorite Sport? Anything my kids are having fun playing...and the Scripps Spelling Bee...technically not a sport but it is on ESPN...my family loves watching it. We are glued to the tv when it is on. Any Olympic sport.
Why did you choose to practice Pilates? I don't remember choosing to practice Pilates...I feel like it chose me .
Why did you decide to take the Pilates Teacher Training Program? I like helping people on their health and wellness journey. I love it when clients realize that they are stronger and more capable, physically AND mentally than they think they are.
Tell us something that would surprise the studio clients! Clients would be surprised to know that I have a blood cancer and an autoimmune disease. There are days when I don't feel well but I "meet my body where it is" everyday. Most days I can do anything I try and other days I can't but I show up each day and I try. That is all any of us can do...show up for ourselves and try our best. None of us know what our futures hold but if we keep ourselves as healthy as possible, we will be able to face our issues and have the strength enough to fight and obstacle in our way.
Favorite Musician or Music Genre? I LOVE music so I there is NO WAY I can choose a favorite. It depends on my mood...do I need something to calm, encourage, motivate, strengthen me? I find music that fits that need.
Favorite Pilates exercise? It's hard to pick a favorite exercise but... Pelvis Pull up on chair and teaser on anything. When I was first taught these exercises, I thought to myself "This instructor is CRAZY if she thinks I'll be able to do this." I was unable to make the mind-body connection to do these exercises. After working at them I can now do these exercises successfully. This makes me feel strong. They gave me the confidence to know that whenever I am taught a new exercises that I can't do, I just have to keep working and I'll get it eventually.
Shannon has been running the administrative side of our Teacher Training Program for 3 years. She will become a Teacher Training student n our upcoming session to become a Certified Pilates Teacher. She is going to be great, don’t you think?
