Once inside I'm greeted by Mary Beth. She's petite in her frame, but I admire the obvious strength and balance she carries even in her light step. She looks focused and ready to begin class, and I follow her lead and step up to the tower. As class starts all the things on my mind that cane with me are forced to sit on the other side of the door. We stretch and bend, flex and lengthen, and open up while finding our center. Instant relief comes over my body as I listen to Mary Beth's clear voice.
She's calming yet motivating as she winds us through the session. I don't feel self-conscious or insecure. I'm learning! By the end of class, my ever present anxiety has completely melted away and I remind myself to try and hold onto this feeling throughout the day. I first began Pilates to stretch my sore muscles, but thanks to Mary Beth I have gotten so much more!
