1989-1992: Mary Beth has been teaching in the fitness industry since 1989. Inspired by the awe and wonder of God’s creation of the human body and its functions, Mary Beth earned a Bachelor of Science degree in health and fitness studies from Central CT State University in 1992. She has been utilizing that degree in various adult and kids fitness programs where she works to inspire people of all ages to engage in a life time of physical activity that will result in a strong and healthy body.
2005-2012:Mary Beth furthered her education and expertise by achieving certification from the Pilates PhysicalMind Institute in 2005 and from the Pilates Method Alliance in 2012. With an additional certification from the American College of Sports Medicine, Mary Beth is able to bring you the best of "both worlds". A motivating blend of the depth and tradition of the Pilates method with current methods of exercise science.
Mary Beth has taught a variety of large group, small group and private sessions in which she teaches Pilates exercises that include the principals of breath, precision, focus, control, and flowing movement. Mary Beth’s Pilates sessions are a balanced combination of stretching, strengthening and deep breathing that leave participants feeling strong, invigorated and energized.
In 2008 Mary Beth opened her own studio serving only a few private clients and offering two mat classes each week. Since then the studio has grown in its service to include equipment, cardio and mat classes as well as core stability instruction for sports teams and fun fitness for kids. With the inclusion of these additional offerings, the studio took on its new name in 2010… Marlborough Pilates Studio Plus. Whether in the Marlborough studio or off-site working with adults, teens or kids, Mary Beth combines the inspiration and precision of the Pilates method with the most current scientific principles of movement, fitness and core stability. In 2011, Mary Beth launched a Pilates Teacher Training Program to help fill the need for more staff at the studio. The Teacher Training Program was re-designed to add many new courses and training opportunities in 2013. The program now is a fully comprehensive 500 hour Pilates Teacher Training Program.
In 2016 Mary Beth volunteered as an exam question writer for the Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher exam. She found this to be a challenging and rewarding experience. One that has greatly enhanced the Teacher Training and Continuing Education Programs at Marlborough Pilates.
2017 welcomes the realization of one of Mary Beth's long time professionals goals which is to offer continuing education credits for Pilates Teachers and Fitness Professionals. Providing tools that other Pilates Teachers can use to become better teachers in helping their clients is one of Mary Beth's passions.
2022 MaryBeth becomes a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor. This certification allows MaryBeth to offer nutrition programs and classes that complement a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. Mary Beth likes to say that the best exercise works from the inside out; starting with the mind and the deep core muscles then working outward through the limbs to achieve a long, strong body that is fit for life…meaning “fit to handle life’s needs” and “fit for a long healthy life”.
Mary Beth maintains her education and certification through a variety of continuing education workshops as well as membership in professional organizations such as the PhysicalMind Institute, the Pilates Method Alliance and the American College of Sports Medicine.
